The IT Professionals New Zealand (ITP) Code of Ethics provides guidance for IT professionals about how they should act at work.<\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-425d673 e-con e-atomic-element e-flexbox-base \" data-id=\"425d673\" data-element_type=\"e-flexbox\" data-e-type=\"e-flexbox\" data-interaction-id=\"425d673\">\n    \t\t\t<h4 data-interaction-id=\"9ca09bb\" class=\"e-heading-base\">What is the ITP Code of Ethics?<\/h4>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a733ddd e-con e-atomic-element e-flexbox-base \" data-id=\"a733ddd\" data-element_type=\"e-flexbox\" data-e-type=\"e-flexbox\" data-interaction-id=\"a733ddd\">\n    \t\t\t<p class=\"e-paragraph-base\" data-interaction-id=\"d858fb1\">The Code of Ethics explains the values and behaviours expected from IT professionals. It helps professionals understand their responsibilities towards clients, employers, other people and the wider community.<br><br>Some important values include:<br>* Being honest and trustworthy<br>* Acting fairly and responsibly<br>* Respecting other people<br>* Having the right skills and knowledge<br>* Keeping professional skills up to date<br>* Thinking about how technology can affect people and society Why is it Important in IT?<br>IT professionals may have access to private information, business systems and important technology. They need to use this access responsibly and should not misuse information or systems.<br>For example, an IT worker should not look at a customer\u2019s private information just because they have access to it.
